Fun summer read: The Husband’s Secret

If you need a fun summer read, you may want to pick up a copy of Liane Moriarty’s “The Husband’s Secret.” Set in Australia, the seasons are reversed but the characters and their very human emotions are universal. Three women’s lives intersect as they encounter lies, betrayals, infidelity and murder while also raising children and grandchildren, selling Tupperware, being PTA moms (whatever the Australian equivalent is) and keeping their families fed and clothed. The titular “husband’s secret” is contained in a letter that very well may be Pandora’s Box in paper form. This fits the genre “chick lit” to a tee, but men might also get a hoot out of this plot-driven, light-as-air writing.
